Turning 25 Part 1: The London Cocktail Club

Hello hello! This weekend i will turn 26, but in typical fashion i am spreading my birthday over three weekends (why not?!) That's because every year the boy takes me away somewhere secret on my actual birthday weekend, so i always have my party the weekend before, and visit my family the weekend after. Three times the fun!

So, for my party i chose to go to the London Cocktail Club. It's owned my super mixologists JJ and James, who won The Restaurant in 2009, and Raymond Blanc.

The drinks menu is extensive and exciting, we were a little disappointed that the rather 'interesting' sounding bacon and eggs cocktail wasn't available that night, but there were plenty more to keep us amused! The cocktails are delicious, made with the highest quality ingredients. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into each and every drink, as they are served in anything from a teacup to a jam jar, with a jammie dodger on the rim or set alight. (There was a LOT of fancy pants fire work going on behind the bar, it was very coyote ugly, and very entertaining!)

The place was rammed, with a great lively atmosphere and a good mix of well known music. This did mean that it took a verrrrrry long time to get served at the bar, but with each drink being carefully and individually made by some excellent bar staff you can't begrudge them that.

At one point the boy got chatting to JJ the owner, who came over and wished me a happy birthday and made me a special cocktail. God knows what was in it but it was delicious. He also put the 5ive megamix on for us - Now THAT's a great party!

Looks like I missed out on a great night -- that bar sounds amazing!

(BTW, I think you suffer from the same problem I do, of never remembering your actual age...check your headline, Ms Mace ;) )
